Durante Rentals
on Shark Tank?

Durante
Rentals Joins Forces with Barbara Corcoran at Grow 2.0 Conference
No, Durante Rentals was not featured on Shark Tank -
although Barbara Corcoran, Shark Tank celebrity, and real estate
mogul did help us kick off the Grow 2.0 Conference. The event took
place at Gateway to Entrepreneurship Conference Center at Westchester
Community College.
This all-day conference featured 38 of the county's most
influential leaders from business, government, and academia on 13
different workshops and panel lead discussions.
A
sample of some of the topics were:
- How to Think Like a CFO, Ready, Set,
Go!
- What to Consider Before You Start Your
Small Business
- Show Me the Money
- Let's Get Social: Social Media as a
Business Growth Tool
- Location, Location, Location: From Site
Selection to Regulatory Requirements
- The Unfair Advantage: Driving Sales for
Business Growth.
Barbara shared
her wisdom on many topics including how important is was to have fun
at your growing company to keep employees engaged and excited about
your mission and when you see someone is not a fit for your company,
fire them fast. But during the firing session, tell the employee what
they do really well, and give advice on what type of job might better
suit them. She said many people left their firing feeling like
they received a promotion.
Durante Rentals,
LLC was very well represented with CFO, Christopher Jones as the
Co-Chair and in charge of the content and theme of People, Places and
Performance. Chris presented at the "How to Think Like a
CFO" workshop and was a moderator of "Show Me the
Money" discussion which had panelists representing venture
capital, crowd funding, micro loans, and community based loans.
President, John
Durante was also on hand to moderate the panel discussion on
"Location, Location, Location". As a real estate attorney,
John spearheaded the opening of all four of Durante's current
locations. John's particular experience and point of view was
invaluable as he guided a panel made up of the Mayor of White Plains,
a top real estate professional and a real estate attorney.
Durante Rentals
is a company created by 3 entrepreneurs and they are passionate about
creating new businesses in Westchester, and all of New York. At
the Grow 2.0 Conference, they lent their knowledge and expertise to
help other budding entrepreneurs avoid the many pitfalls on the
start-up path, and help them get on the road to success.

Some of the staff at the Takeuchi Sales Training
This past Saturday, Dale Keller,
NE Regional Sales Manager for Takeuchi, visited our Flushing
location. He was on hand to educate our staff on the ins and
outs of the entire Takeuchi line of skid steers, mini excavators,
wheel and track loaders.
Dale's visit was invaluable, especially to our Elmsford
and Bronx staff where we have our main showrooms. While these
machines are extremely impressive in photos, seeing them up close and
personal really left an impression. These machines are downright
sexy!
Dale discussed at length the 4 pillars of excellence
that Takeuchi has mastered and emphasizes in each and every one of
their machines: Performance, Durability, Operator Comfort and
Serviceability.
Come down and see for yourself what the buzz is all
about. All our Takeuchi machines are available for demo with no
appointment necessary. With operator comfort one of their main
selling points, once you sit inside the spacious cabin, you may never
want to get up.

Happy 325th
Birthday to Husqvarna
|
Happy Belated
Birthday to Husqvarna!
Husqvarna celebrated 325 years of innovative Swedish
engineering on, April 27. The company has a unique history, from weapons
to robotic mowers, which began in 1689. Durante Rentals is proud to
be an authorized Husqvarna dealer.
In the late 1600s, the wars that raged across Europe
resulted in an increase in Sweden's weapons production. Hydropower
was required for production, so in 1689, a drilling works was
established beside the water falls in Huskvarna in southern Sweden
(at that time spelled Husqvarna), where many products are still
produced today.
Since the 1960s, the company focuses on outdoor power
products for parks, gardens, forests and products for the
construction industry.
Happy
Birthday again from Durante Rentals, an authorized Husqvarna dealer!

demolished to make way for new pilings and a new Rockaway boardwalk.

New Study Says Infrastructure Already Feels Climate
Change's Impact
A
new White House-sponsored report concludes that climate change
already is having an impact throughout the United States, with
infrastructure feeling some of the effects, and says urgent action is
needed to ensure that catastrophic results don't materialize.
The
third U.S. National Climate Assessment (NCA), which the White House
released on May 6, says that rising sea levels, heavy downpours and
extreme heat are damaging infrastructure of all types-including
roads, rail lines and airport runways. It adds that the costs are
expected to climb significantly in coming decades.

World Cup 2014 Construction in Brazil Marred by
Corruption, Waste
The cost of building Brasilia's World Cup stadium has
nearly tripled to $900 million in public funds, largely due to
allegedly fraudulent billing, government auditors say. The spike in
costs has made it the world's second-most expensive soccer arena, even
though the city has no major professional team.
