On
August 17th, Durante Rentals held its 2nd annual Mets company outing
at Citifield. Over 75 Durante team members, friends, family and
vendors were treated to the magnificent views from the Empire Party
Suites. A great time was had by all as we ate, drank and laughed the
afternoon away.
There's
something special about the ballpark on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The
sights, sounds and smells bring back a flood of childhood memories
for a lot of us. It was extra special seeing some of the younger
crowd take in the festive atmosphere. The occasional Mr. Met sighting
was an added treat for both young and old alike.
A
special shout out and thank you to our guests of honor Mr. and Mrs.
John Milne for attending and sharing in the day's festivities.

Anthony
Durante, CEO, Durante Rentals, which has four locations
in the
New York area including the Bronx, Elmsford, Flushing and Mt.
Vernon, also says existing customers are renting more equipment due
to harder to obtain financing, more complex equipment requiring
greater mechanical expertise and attention and because the ratio of
rental rate to overall purchase cost is becoming increasingly more
favorable.
"There are more customers who are renting every year as
renting equipment is becoming easier to operate
and
more cost effective - the inverse to the rapid increase in cost of
hiring a contractor," Durante says.

Westchester Community College's Gateway to Entrepreneurship Program

Our CFO, Chris
Jones, as a part of his on-going volunteer efforts with Westchester
Community College's Gateway to Entrepreneurship Center (G2E),
recently spent time working with seven immigrants looking to start up
local businesses. "As a second generation American, I heard the
stories of how difficult it was to make a living when my grandparents
first arrived in New York. As a young entrepreneur, there was no
one to help me avoid the mistakes I made early on. I love seeing
the enthusiasm they have for the opportunities here in America that
perhaps were not a possibility in their native countries".
Romina
Ganopolsky, an Argentinian native who ran the program for G2E said,
"The entrepreneurs really appreciated Chris' experience,
feedback and his genuineness. We hope we can get him again for our
next event."

Durante Rentals recently sponsored the 2nd annual Dr.
Leo J. Greco Memorial Golf Outing at the Spook Rock Golf Course.
140 golfers were lucky enough to receive a Durante Rentals custom
golf towel. More importantly, the outing raised money for a great
cause in honor of a great man - The Leo J. Greco Memorial
Scholarship. Proceeds went towards a scholarship for a graduating
Suffern High School senior wrestler that exemplifies all the
qualities that Dr. Greco embodied - devotion, compassion, generosity
and a zest for life. Rest in peace Dr. Greco.

Amid criticism for taking too long to
fill major vacancies in his administration, New York City Mayor Bill
de Blasio chose Rick Chandler as the new commissioner of the Dept. of
Buildings. Chandler replaces Thomas Fariello, acting commissioner,
who took the helm after Robert LiMandri resigned at the end of last

What
Construction Companies Need to Know About OSHA's Updated Reporting
& Record-Keeping Rule
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration
updated their rule about reporting and recording work-related
injuries. The new rule takes affect January 1, 2015 and expands the
reporting requirements for certain injuries. The new rule requires
that all fatalities be reported within eight hours. In addition, all
in-patient hospitalizations, amputations and loss of an eye have to
be reported to OSHA within 24 hours. These new reporting requirements
cover all employees covered under the Occupational Safety and Health
Act including those exempt from keeping injury and illness records. Read More.
