We've put together a brief primer on the different types of portable heaters available to help with your decision making.

Radiant Heaters
Radiant heaters transfer heat from an emitting heat source to an object similar to the way the sun heats. They warm people and other objects in rooms rather than directly heating the air.

Infrared Heaters

Infrared heaters use electromagnetic radiation to warm by transferring energy from a source with a higher temperature to a source with a lower temperature. No contact between the two sources is necessary for he heat transfer.

Forced Air Heaters

Forced Air heaters are the most common type of portable heaters. They use air as the  heat transfer medium. These units are especially cost efficient.

Electric Space Heaters

Electric Space heaters are heaters that come in a self-contained device for heating an enclosed area. They are usually 120V so they can easily plug into any wall outlet.
